The Mifflin-St.Jeor equation was designed to estimate RMR in the ambulatory population.  Actual body weight is used in these equations, regardless of BMI. It is generally recommneded that a PAL factor be multiplied to obtain TEE.  For additional information, refer to the Estimation of Energy Expenditures section in the Nutrition Assessment section.
